Our Tour Guide (with the

At the Yucca Building |
The large overhangs were
built on the slave quarters to protect the brick from the sun therefore
it will be cooler |
The upstairs door (above
our heads) doesn't have a staircase up to it, because taxes were much
higher with a staircase. They used a ladder instead. |
The door behind Herman
is the same door we saw earlier. We are upstairs for more tour info |
The paintings on the wall
are from Clementine
Hunter. |
Cammie Henry owned the
Plantation at one time and she brought culture to the area by hosting
many artists (click to enlarge), sometimes for years |
The tour guide is demonstrating
the paddle that is used for leveling the mattress. And, if that didn't
work, he has his left hand on a roller that hung above the bed that would
do the job. |
