Departing the Market Street promptly at 8 am
If a hurricane arrives and it is too wet, then we won't be going.

Join us on a ride to discover some old and new county roads up across the one-lane bridge in Oklahoma. We'll start from the Market Street Grocery store in McKinney at the intersection of Eldorado Pkwy and Ridge Rd. as depicted on the google map below. There is a strong chance of several U-turns. I can't make any promises on this route nor do I want to. If you are adventureous, then OK, if not, it might not be much fun. It will be mostly scenic country road riding. After lunch at Lamasco, I'll plan on taking something rather simple back to the metroplex. Lunch should be around Noon, and we should be back around 3 pm (+/-). If you are considering this run, then send me a note just for the hell of it. I'd be curious if anyone is going even though I'm going regardless. I've attached a MapSource route to give you an idea of what I intend on doing. Click here for file.

Update: If it is raining too much at take-off time then we won't go. However, it is not raining, I definitely plan on going somewhere. If my first plan doesn't work, then I will modify it on the run. If .........from the very beginning we decide to go west instead of north, then I have an additional route linked to the file above where we can go west and have lunch in Greenwood. We will choose Greenwood if the Hurricane heads to the east side of Dallas which is an obvious possibility at this point. I have some dirt roads from the very beginning and they are dry enough to ride at present. We'll see how the afternoon and night goes and we'll revise at departure time as necessary. 1:58 pm, 9/12/08

  • Market Street offers something for breakfast, some fuel and some restrooms
  • Our Break stop will be just across the Red River and it offers drinks, fuel and restrooms.
  • The Lamasco Cafe is small and quaint. There is no fuel in town or anything else.
